Strategic leadership

Dr. Frank Morgan, Global Head, Leadership and Executive Development, Dow Chemical world Headquarters, Michigan, USA will address CEOs and senior management at the Colombo Plaza Hotel Ballroom on February 18 and 19. The topic is 'Strategic Leadership for Global Competitive Advantage'.

The two day advanced management and professional development programme will be bringing the best of US executive education to South Asia. It is conducted in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Organisation of Professional Associations.

The event is officially endorsed by the Association of Professional Bankers, the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Institute of Personnel Management, Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, Sri Lanka Economic Association, National Institute of Business Management and Post Graduate Institute of Management Professionals Association.

At Dow Chemical, Dr. Morgan is responsible for the identification, assessment, mentoring and development processes of global leaders; individual development for the top 200 leaders and identified high potential leaders; team development and team performance analysis for the CEO and top management team; development of the CEO; development and delivery of strategic alignment and the communications process for the corporation's 4000 leaders around the globe; the design, development and delivery of early high-potential identification and training curriculum for Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Europe; the design and approval of university based executive education and graduate level courses supported by the company.

Dr. Morgan was a Professor of Management and Director, Executive Education, Kenan-Flagler Graduate School of Business, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and former Director, Executive Education, Darden Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia while he continues to teach leadership in the corporate education programme of Duke University, ranked number one in the world in 2003 for corporate education by the Financial Times and Business Week.

Dr. Morgan provided an expert analysis for the case study in the March 2003 issue of Harvard Business Review. He has served as Senior Group Vice-President, Berol (Newell Corporation), on its corporate executive committee and as Chairman of the international subsidiary Board of Directors.

He has contributed to Time, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Business Week and Fortune magazine. He has been a key speaker at the International Consortium for Executive Development Research.

His client list includes Federal Express, CARE, Lockheed Martin, Nortel, Pratt and Whitney, the US Navy and Weyerhaeuser.
