US delegation to study peace process

Staff members of the US house of Representatives' International Relations Committee will visit Sri Lanka next week to study the current peace process. A spokesman for the United States Embassy in Colombo told "Lankapuvath".

He said: "The aim of the delegation is to learn more about the peace process between the Government and the LTTE and to review bilateral issues.

"While in Sri Lanka, the bi-partisan group of staff members will meet with several government officials, political leaders and non-governmental groups," he said. The delegation will also make a brief visit to Jaffna.
