For those in the Wedding Mood...

by LAKMAL WELABADA

If your wedding is around the corner, or you happen to be a fashion bug, eager to pick up beauty tips from experts, this event is for you.

The Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Fair 2004 presented by the Sri Lanka Association of Hairdressers and Beauticians (SLAHAB) will be on from March 11 to 14 at the New Conference Hall at the BMICH.

Each day from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm, the fair will feature many events including bridal, hairstyles and make-up shows. There will be over 100 trade stalls which will cater to everything that goes with the 'wedding-mood', including face-to-face meetings between the customer and experts. The show promises to satisfy the needs of every prospective bride and groom who lives in a world of dreams to make their wedding most memorable, whether on a grand scale or with a simple yet elegant ceremony.

The visit by four leading Indian fashion personalities who will share their talents and ideas by conducting fashion seminars, will be the high point of the four-day-show. Dr.Jamuna Pai, a dermatologist who groomed many Miss.Indias will reveal the secrets of a perfect body. Dilshad Pastakia, the famous hairstylist who worked with many film stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor will speak on hair tips and tricks. A talk by Cory Wallia, one of the India's best make-up specialists and a fashion extravaganza by Ashley Rebello will round off the show.

Bridal hair fashions sponsored by Sunsilk, latest collections by local fashion houses and SLAHAB's 'Bridal Splendour' will be the other highlights.

Nayana Karunaratne, Founder President of the SLAHAB said that one of the main goals of the fair is to help up and coming skilled personalities in the field. Simultaneously the National SLAHAB Awards 2004 competition will also be held in the areas of photography, floral, cakes, bridal clothes, nail art, hairstyles and make-up. The three main winners will be awarded handsome cash prizes. "Last year we had candidates even from remote areas like Ampara and Badulla," said Nayana.

A full colour 100-page wedding magazine, 'To Say I DO' will be launched at the fair, and there will be a raffle draw for prospective brides and grooms.
