Docs on war path again by Shanika Sriyananda The doctors in government hospitals are on a warpath again protesting over the Treasury Sub Committee's decision to consult other trade unions in the health services to rectify anomalies. The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) will commence a four-hour token strike on Monday and if by then the Treasury fails to comply with their demands by Wednesday warn that they may go on an islandwide strike from Thursday. According to GMOA officials, though the doctors who will be on a four-hour token strike from Monday, they would be attended to emergency services. The doctors in the Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital, Castle Street Maternity Hospital and the De Soyza Maternity Hospital will not join the strike. However, routine work at Intensive Care Units and the accident service units will function as usual. |
