Over 400 men at Singhe Lions marathon on March 14

Over 400 men are expected to run in the third annual Singhe (Lion) Marathon organised by Lion District 306 A and in Association with the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka on Sunday March 14 starting at 7 a.m. opposite Holy Cross College, Kalutara.

The 42-kilometres marathon will start in front of Holy Cross College, Kalutara and the runners will proceed through Wadiyamankada, Wadduwa, Panadura, Koralawella, Moratuwa, Rawathawatta, Katubedda, Ratmalana, Mt. Lavinia, Wellawatta, Bambalapitiya, Kollupitiya and finish at Galle Face Green.

The winner will be presented the Lions Club District 306-A challenge trophy and Rs. 30,000, runner-up a trophy and Rs. 25,000, third place a trophy and Rs. 20,000, fourth Rs. 15,000, fifth Rs. 10,000, sixth Rs. 7,000, seventh Rs. 5,000, eighth Rs. 3,500, nineth Rs. 3,000, tenth Rs. 2,500, eleventh to fifteen Rs. 2,000 each, sixteen to twenty fifth Rs. 1,000 each. The 25th place to 50th place will receive certificates and medals.

Meanwhile all runners competing the course will be awarded certificates.

The awards ceremony will take place immediately after the race at Galle Face Green.
