Seylan Bank, always in the forefront in innovations has now partnered Mobitel Pvt. Ltd. to offer its current and savings account holders with a Mobitel connection, a unique menu driven SMS banking facility.

Access to their accounts would be available from any part of the world over a GSM phone for balance inquiry, debit and credit transactions, total of clearing cheques of date, un-cleared effects, total of cheques returned etc.

The unique feature of this channel gives Seylan VISA Credit Card holders an immediate alert re-their last credit card transaction subject to pre-determined limits of the transactions, in addition to the credit card balance and next payment details.

As such, the bank's credit card holders would enjoy a security feature unlike any other credit card holder.

Seylan Bank's customers with Mobitel SMS connection would also be privy to the latest interest and exchange rates, make PIN changes and requisition cheque books at the touch of a button.

Mobitel's SMS technology offers two methods of message delivery to the bank's customers, namely the PUSH and PULL method.

The PUSH method would include alerts on standing orders, loan repayment, monthly Seylan VISA card payments, Seylan VISA card transaction alerts, salary credit alerts etc.

Mobitel along with Seylan Bank hope to broaden the parameters of this facility in the near future.

The PULL method would envisage the sending of a SMS request from a customer's phone and obtaining a suitable reply.

Limited (IDS).It is user-configurable and operator independent and provides a totally in-house customised solution to suit its customers.
