Tony & Ayesha to release new CD

'Back to our roots' as in the words of the song, Tony & Ayesha returned last month after a long stint of performances for two years in Germany and Switzerland.

Nothing could be better, they say in happy unison, to be back home and performing to their fans whom they missed. So you can catch them at the Deli Market on Saturdays from 7 pm onwards and again enjoy their vibes on Sundays at the Trans Asia lobby, their repertoire ranging from the '60s to '90s with a whole lot of soul thrown in.

"Working as duo in Europe, in today's context is advantageous as against working with a band. We performed at discotheques, night clubs and pubs singing the top 40 songs. In Lausanne there is a swing to Latino music and that's interesting" voices Ayesha. The duo enjoy a plus in that they sing in Spanish, Italian, French, German, are extremely versatile in these languages, and in their repertoire included Sinhala songs as well.

Having returned to Sri Lanka Tony & Ayesha are now busy working on their CD Sarade which they hope to release soon. There are two special songs in the CD which we intend airing before the release of the CD. One is Sarade the title track which we composed for someone special to express our gratitude, musically and the other Ranaviruwo a dedication to our forces.

The lyrics for the fourteen track were written by me and Tony handled the music arrangements along with me. The songs are love songs, ballads and some in bossa nova.

We have included three of our songs in Kaffringha rhythm and four songs in disco rhythm on the Gloria Gaynor disco rhythm style, which I'm sure will be interesting' continues Ayesha in her enthusiasm about the release of the CD which will happen soon. The production of the CD is a committed duo effort by Tony and Ayesha.

Two of Sri Lanka's leading singers and musicians Tony and Ayesha have a wealth of experience behind them and are now being sought after to perform at corporate functions, cocktail parties and even at weddings.

"The music biz in Sri Lanka in the last two years when we were out, has certainly improved for the better. There's a lot of new talent performing which is a good sign for the future - new talent that is enthusiastic and keen on hitting the high spots.

We will be based here and intend performing in Switzerland for the summer season only. In the meantime we are throwing ourselves into producing our new CD Sarade which will be released soon", say Tony & Ayesha. Catch their sophisticated performances in the weekends. Saturdays at Deli Market and Sundays at Trans Asia.
