Uva College salvage a draw in battle against Dharmadutha by V. T. RAJ Badulla Sports Corr. The 49th 'Battle of Uva' between Dharmadutha College and Uva College ended in a tame draw at the Vincent Dias Stadium in Badulla last week. On the run of play, Dharmadutha were in a commanding position when Uva College lost 4 quick wickets for just 11 runs, chasing a total of 216 runs for victory. Ramzan Azad (43 n.o.) and S.M. Madhusanka Prabath (14 n.o.) put on a 41 run in their unbeaten partnership for the 6th wicket and helped Uva College to draw the encounter. Winning the toss, on the first day, Dharmadutha College elected to bat first and declared immediately after tea at 260 for 9 wickets in 54.1 overs. In reply, Uva College were able to collect 172 runs in 65.5 overs. Chaminda Lakmal claimed 5 wickets for 38 runs. Dharmadutha declared their second innings at 128 for 3 wickets in 23.5 overs. Lakshitha Virajith who scored 82 runs in the first innings once again performed well to score 70 runs and win the Best Batsman's Trophy. Chasing a total of 216 runs in 43 overs, Uva College were 69 for 5 at close of play. Chaminda Lakmal Athanayake who claimed a match bag of 9 wickets for 52 runs won the Best Bowlers Trophy. Jayanath Janaka Dissanayke of Uva College won the Best Fielder's award while Shammi Nayanajith won the Man of the Match award. Ramzan Azard of Uva College won the Rising Star's Award.
