Caltex awards for outstanding German tech students

Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited in their attempt to gear the future generation with knowledge on the latest technology in the lubricants industry, gave away awards and certificates to a group of final year students from the Ceylon-German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI), following their successful completion of a special course on 'Lubrication & its Applications' recently.

The award ceremony was held at the CGTTI auditorium with the Chairman of Sri Lanka Transport Board, U.L.M. Farook, presiding over the occasion.

Of a class of 150 students, Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited awarded five best students a medal and special awards for their outstanding performances during the course conducted for three months. Through this course, Caltex, a global leader in petroleum & lubricant technology, hope to uplift the industry standards in the country by educating the next generation of technical students to be on par with the new technological developments in the international sphere.

SLTB Chairman Farook said that he welcomed the move by Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited, a multinational organisation, of understanding the needs of the community and doing everything possible to develop the sector education.

Gamini Manchanayake, Director/Principal of the CGTTI, expressed his sincere thanks to Caltex for giving the CGTTI students their valuable resources, time, efforts and most of all dedication and willingness to share their knowledge.

Caltex Lubricants Director/General Manager Finance, Anura Perera, stressed that Calex was committed to develop the standards of the society, not only in areas that it would make profits, but any area that needed a helping hand. He said that Caltex, being a multinational organisation, equipped and educated with the latest diversities in the technological advancement, would be more than willing to impart their knowledge to students, who were aspiring to be benefited.

As a socially responsible organisation, Caltex was aware of its responsibilities towards its society.

"Students of today are the future of tomorrow, that is why we have ventured out to look at the technical students who will enter into the automotive sector or the industrial sector," said Dr. Gamini Amarasekera, Chief Technology Manager of Caltex.

The company has been engaged in technical seminar presentations and educational campaigns in educating the fisheries sector, the farmers and service station personnel.

These are programs that are conducted on a regular basis by trained professionals in the field by Caltex.
