CCC signs MOU with China Chamber of Commerce

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce which has established itself as the voice of the business community in Sri Lanka, signed yet another Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery & Electronic Products a Chamber with a membership of over 5000 members.

This was the 4th MOU to be signed by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce with Chinese Counterparts ? the first 3 being with the CCCPIT Shanghai, Beijing and Sichuan Council.

Since the formation of the Sri Lanka sChina Business Council under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in 2001, the link between the two countries have grown from strength to strength and there is no doubt that the signing of this MOU will spearhead better understanding and enhance trade investment opportunities between both countries' said Mr. Tilak De Zoysa, Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

Speaking further, Mr. De Zosya said, 'you represent the business community of one of the most powerful and fastest growing economies in the world and your visit has offered us an opportunity to extend our friendship to you and hope that we could develop such relationships into fruitful partnerships for our mutual gain'.

Mr. Ranjan de Silva, Vice President, Sri Lanka ? China Business Council in his address stated that the main objective of the council is to promote trade, investment, tourism and joint venture between Sri Lanka and China and the Council has strived hard in achieving these goals. It was noted that from 2001, the Council has hosted 5 powerful delegations from various provinces in China including Beijing.

Mr. Liu Meikun, Vice President, China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery and Electronic Products who was leading this 10 member delegation, in his address stated that he was very glad to be at the Chamber and looked forward to more opportunities in expanding commercial transactions between Sri Lanka and China.

He said that his delegation is very impressed with Sri Lanka and hoped that the MOU would bring a closer co-operation between Sri Lanka and China.

The MOU was signed by Mr.Tilak De Zoysa, Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Liu Meikun, Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery & Electronic Products.
