34 councillors for Kurunegala, 16 for Puttalam :

Wayamba Provincial Council election on 24th

Eleven political parties and one independent group will contest the Wayamba Provincial Council election for the Kurunegala district while nine political parties and six independent groups will contest the Puttalam district.

The election will be held on April 24 to elect 34 and 16 Provincial Councillors for Kurunegala and Puttalam respectively.

The political parties contesting Kurunegala are United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA), United National Party (UNP), Lalith Front, Eksath Sinhala Maha Sabawa, National Development Front, Jathika Sanwardena Peremuna (JSP), New Left Front (NLF), Sri Lanka National Front, Sri Lanka Progressive Front (SLPF), Sri Lanka Muslim Katchi (SLMK) and Sinhala Maha Sammatha Bumi Puthra Pakshaya (SMSBP). The Puttalam district will be contested by the UPFA, UNP, UMPA, JSP, NLF, RJP, SLPF, SLMK and SMSBP.
