Ravi's statement to be recorded

by Jayantha Sri Nissanka

Colombo Crime Division will record a statement this week from former Minister Ravi Karunanayake in connection with the roofing sheet scandal.

Director of the CCD, SSP Sarath Lugoda told the 'Sunday Observer' that four suspects were remanded on Friday including a Municipal Council member who had sold 1150 roofing sheets to a hardware shop.

"Roofing sheets distributed in Kotte had been sold to hardware stores by the Municipal Council member who was remanded, SSP Lugoda said.

Two other suspects were the owners of the hardware shop and the other was a lorry driver who had brokered the deal.

"Already nine persons are in remand including former UNP MP Lilantha Perera in connection with the racket", SSP Lugoda said.

Police have already recorded statements from former Minister M. H. Mohamed and former Secretary to the Treasury, Charitha Ratwatte.
