Sri Lanka Insurance commemorates Poson week

Sri Lanka Insurance together with the Anuradhapura District Secretariat will operate a public address system to assist the thousands of pilgrims who will visit Anuradhapura to commemorate the upcoming Poson week.

The public address system operated by Sri Lanka Insurance for the ninth consecutive year will keep devotees informed of the various facilities available and at the same time assist in locating missing persons.

The main address station will be located between the Sri Maha Bodhiya and the Ruwanmeli Mahaseya with a substation at strategic locations like Mirisawetiya, Isurumuniya, Sinhakuluna and Thuparamaya.

Saviya helps mentally impaired women

Children with slow mental growth is a social segment that needs more attention, among the disabled community. Children with vision, hearing and other physical disabilities are reported to be more intelligent than normal children. Due to limited resources available to help the mentally impaired, in this complex community, the Saviya Development Foundation, a community based voluntary organization, helps this segment in our community.

The SDF commenced operation of a rehabilitation centre three years ago at Nalawana, for the uplift of the status of the children with a very slow mental growth. The resident mentally impaired young women are engaged in exercises and physical activities for their mental growth. They have built up a contented livelihood through sports, drawing, music, dancing and drama.

Appeal for help

D. T. Silva of 58, Jayasumanarama Road, Ratmalana, is suffering from aortic and mitral valve complications. He has been advised to undergo surgery by Cardiac Surgeon Dr. G. A. C. Amarasena.

The cost of the surgery is around Rs. 465,000 and the patient appeals to the generous public to donate to his Savings A/c No. 0080-207 - 023152-2, People's Bank, Ratmalana.

Singing couple from Kerala

Abey and Swapna the famous international Gospel Singers from Kerala, India will be in Sri Lanka from May 30 to June 8. They are scheduled to hold two Worship Concerts and also lead several Praise and Worship gatherings at various locations in and around Colombo. Although this is their 4th visit to Sri Lanka, this is the first time that they are here for a Worship Concert.

Abey and Swapna have been in this ministry since even before their marriage, working more ardently among the youth in proclaiming the Gospel through their music and sharing the love that Jesus put into their hearts.
