Deaf Schools' VB Tourney

The Deaf Schools Volleyball Championships organised by the Deaf School Past Pupils Association, School for the Deaf in Ratmalana and Caltex for the third consecutive year will be played at the National Youth Services Council (NYSC), Maharagama on Saturday (July 17) at 8.45 a.m.

Yasodara Deaf and Blind School, Balangoda and Sivaraja School for the Deaf and Blind, Mahawewa are the strong favourites to retain the Caltex trophies for both boys and girls.

Yasodara, who are the defending champions, will face a strong challenge for the boys title from School for the Deaf, Ratmalana, Islamic Centre for the Physically Handicapped, Thihariya, Deaf and Blind School, Tangalle and Sandagala Deaf School, Kurunegala.

Sivaraja School for the Deaf and Blind, Mahawewa, who won the girls title last year, is poised to win again this year too with opposition coming from Ratmalana School for the Deaf and Sri Sudarshi School for the Deaf and Blind, Bandarawela. President of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation, Mervyn J. Cooray will be the Chief Guest with Neil Bandara Hapuhinna (Chairman/Director-General of NYSC) as the Guest of Honour.
