The search is on ...


Winners at last year’s pageant

The search is on for Ms. Lanka, 2004 and beautiful Sri Lankan women over 17 years of age, irrespective of their marital status, are invited to send us their photographs with the entry coupon, to Mrs Gwendoline Kuhatheva, Director, Technique International before August 25, 2004.

Ms. Lanka, 'Beauty For A Cause' is now on its 10th year, and each year the organisers have chosen a worthy cause to support.

Some of these include Daya Mina, the mentally retarded children's vocational centre, assisting the project 'Pipena Kusum' a project of PEACE, training differently abled (deaf persons) in hairdressing and salon management at Ratmalana the school for the deaf, setting up a bakery at the Vajira Home for Children, Talking Book Library' for the Sri Lanka Federation of the Visually Handicapped, setting up a Development Centre for 'Women in Batticaloa' and setting up funds to uphold the health, especially in family planning, pre-natal and post-natal care for the 'Women's Wing' of the Federation of the Visually Handicapped.

Ms. Lanka 'Beauty for a Cause' pageant was initiated by Technique International in 1995, with the aim of helping charitable organisations develop into self sustainable institutions, throng long term funding programs.

Each year a group of dedicated sponsors join Technique International to organise these events. This year a school about 100 meters in the interior of Hambantota town that urgently needs classroom facilities has been identified as the 'Cause'.

The Lions Club of Park Circle are supporting the organisers in this year's event.

Ms. Lanka pageant is scheduled to be held in November 2004. It is presented by Thalgo Cosmetics. event sponsors include; sterling Flowers, Grand Oriental Hotel, Liberty Plaza, Asian Fabrics and Hermes International.

The organisers welcome more sponsors to join them in their effort to make Ms. Lanka 2004, a spectacular and meaningful event.
