Kalutara Bodhi Fund for the sick

by Divakara Mohotti, Kalutara Group Correspondent

A fund to help patients suffering from incurable diseases was launched at the Kalutara Bodhi premises recently, under the patronage of Ajith de Zoysa of the Bodhi Trust.

Rs. 10.5 million was collected on the first day itself, said R.C.D. Bandaranayake, General Manager, Bodhi Trust office Kalutara.

It has also been decided to establish a new section at the Nagoda General Hospital. Philanthropists are invited to contribute to this fund which has been organised to save human lives. A donor can contribute any amount to this fund, an official receipt will be issued for any contribution at the counter of the Bodhi Trust.

Recipients of assistance will be carefully chosen by investigating the condition of the disease, economic state of the patient and the recommendation of the doctor attending on the patient. The board will also consider other financial assistance received by the patient from sources such as the government and private organisations, the Manager said.

It is important to state clearly the name and address of the donor when contributions are made to the fund.

Further information regarding this cause can be obtained through telephone numbers 034-2223130/2226483 or fax 034-2221782.
