Outsource expatriate knowledge - PM

by Hiran H.Senewiratne

Sri Lanka can be developed as an international Information Communication Technology (ICT) hub if we use our resources and expertise to the maximum, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse said.

The country could outsource expatriate knowledge to improve the local ICT skills in Sri Lanka. Not making use of that opportunity to a maximum, could be seen as a main draw back, said Prime Minister Rajapakse at the official launching of the Accounting and Financial Support Services (Private) Limited (AFSSL) last week.

He said that Sri Lanka has all expertise knowledge and ability to reach global standards, where the ICT sector is concerned. He said that Sri Lanka has the conducive environment to be the knowledge hub with its friendly regulations along with high level of English standard and ICT professionals.

Prime Minister Rajapakse said the one of the main advantages that Sri Lanka possessed is that the services are so much cheaper compared to other countries in the region.

Chairman/CEO AFSSL Buddhi Athauda said that the company is a outsourcing servicing centre for accounting and finance industry mainly serving the United States and UK.

Athauda said that his company has a dedicated and professional staff with international and local exposure and they could cater towards any accounting and finance industry requirement for any institute.

Athauda said that major services that the company could provide are accounting and book keeping services, tax services, payroll services and financial reports. "Any company could obtain or outsource our services to be competitive in the business world," Athauda added .

Many organisations find that outsourcing reduces cost and improves performance and speed which helps to achieve competitiveness, cost savings growth stimulus and increase of revenue , he concluded.
