Mega trade exhibition at Jaffna

by Ananth Palakidnar

The Traders' Association of Jaffna has organised a mega trade exhibition at the Jaffna Central College this week to promote the small industries and the agricultural activities in the peninsula.

Informed sources said that the exhibition would be held from August 27 to 29 to coincide with the historic Nallur Kanthaswamy temple festival which started yesterday .

Products from the small industrial sector in Jaffna will be exhibited at more than hundred stalls at the venue. Sources said that the ceasefire which prevailed for the past two years had enhanced the agricultural and the small industrial sectors to a certain extent in the peninsula and the exhibition would provide an opportunity for the business and industrial communities in the south to interact with the Jaffna farmers and industrialists.

Business establishments in the south have also been invited to display their products at the Jaffna exhibition. Several expatriate Tamil businessmen currently in the peninsula for the festive season will also take part at the exhibition, sources said.
