33 Bangladeshis released from Indian prison AMRITSAR, India, Saturday (AFP) Thirty-three illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, including four women and two children, were Friday released from jail in north India and were expected to be repatriated soon, police said. The Bangladeshi nationals were arrested about 18 months ago as they tried to cross over to Pakistan through the border at Punjab, Amritsar city jail superintendent S. P. Singh said. None in the group had a passport, he said. After their release they would be taken to West Bengal and handed over to the Border Security Force who would facilitate their repatriation to neighbouring Bangladesh, he added. |
