CHC to reserve hotel accommodation

Global reservations, outside catering and a new look to the travel counter at the Bandaranaike International Airport Katunayake (BIA) are some of the new services introduced by Ceylon Hotel Corporation (CHC) to cater to the needs of its clientele.

CHC in now to reserve hotel accommodations on behalf of their customers at any hotel around the globe.

In addition to that, customers can also purchase air tickets at the CHC office in Bambalapitiya." We also undertake the reservations in private sector hotels in Sri Lanka the addition to our properties of CHC network, Senior Manager Marketing and Travel Ranjith Balasuriya said.

Under the patronage of the new Chairman Chandra Mohotti,they have already done online reservations, through the CHC website (www.ceylonhotels.lk).Balasuriya said that five to eight hotel bookings are made daily.Most bookings are from Japan,Hong-kong, Maldives,India and European countries.

Under the guidance of the Chairman CHC has started to cater for outside functions at High Commissions and Embassies. It has also been successful on there occasions Balasuriya said.

"Our main objective is to promote the network of CHC owned hotels and Resthouses which are located in all parts of the country," he added.

CHC has also given a new look with friendly staff to the travel counter which is at BIA.

CHC which are the pioneers in the hospitality industry in Sri Lanka with 38 years presence in the tourism trade, has 24 exclusive locations around Sri Lanka.

Savouring 'Rasavimana delicacies

Are you bored with your daily meal and thinking of having a meal out? Why not try something different? Probably enjoy your meal in a village boutique atmosphere, seated on a "Lovi Bankuwa. Then "Rasavimana" would be the ideal place!

'Rasavimana' offers a range of food from Chinese to Western to Indian under one roof.

As you enter you can see the restaurant trade mark a "Kavum Amma",marking oil cake at the entrance.

'Rasavimana' has adopted the village boutique concept. At the traditional food corner, you could enjoy your meal at the "Lovi Bankuwa" while the food is on the "Pan Padura table".

The restaurant roof is made of palmyrah leaves.In "Kevili gedara" you can taste about 19 varieties of sweets.

For breakfast you can get all kinds of breakfast foods.

In addition to that Kolakenda and fresh cows milk also available.

For lunch, a la carte menu is available.At the restaurant the buffet is laid on a an cart while you can enjoy your meal on a " Nelum leaf."

For dinner take both Western and Eastern food in on the menu.Including koththu, parata and hoppers.It is also a time to enjoy the BBQ on a Boat with Oil lamps.

The tree house is a place where you can enjoy your meal in a quiet atmosphere. Rasavimana's Main Chef, Sarath Paranagama said, that cooks and waiters are well trained staff and that they all have (NAB training).

" We have all kinds of equipment as well as action huts.We do daily orders for any number of customers," Paranagama added.

The Kaum Amma said that there in a very good demand for oil cakes as well as other sweetmeats.Per day she makes nearly 350 oil cakes.At the sweet corner you can purchase jelaby,aluwa,aggala, mung kavum and all kinds of bombay sweets.

Chairman, Rasawimana Management Services (Pvt) Ltd Gamunu Wasantha Silva said,that there is an air condition family room adjoining the restaurant. "Daily around 1000 customers come to Rasavimana.

"We have a good demand for food products because of our catering from Malabatha to wedding celebration" he added.

Silva said that now they supply food to 10-15 executive level companies.Eight bicycles send,take bakery foods to 18 villages around Colombo area.

Head of Sales and Marketing, Shehan Danthanarayana said than expansion programs are also on the way.

Under this program we hope to increase seating capacity .

Further he said 'at night we hope to provide a "calypso" band and "Paduru Parties". A children's Corner will also be there (with toys and games).

On the other hand hope to make an under ground car park before December.
