Japanese aid for Sigiriya

Japan is considering a proposal to grant aid to the World Heritage site of Sigiriya. It will send a mission to Sri Lanka shortly, Japanese Foreign Minister Yasushi Kawaguchi told visiting Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar in Tokyo last week.

Request for a kidney

Twenty-six-year-old, Miss Samudra Hemanthi Hettiarachchi, B.Sc (Architecture) Undergraduate of Moratuwa University, is suffering from an acute renal failure and is undergoing Dialysis treatment at Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital.

Consultant Nephrologist Dr. Chula Herath, Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital has recommended an urgent kidney transplant to save her life. Her parents, both government pensioners, have appealed for a 'B' Positive or 'O' Positive kidney.

Help save her life

Seventeen-year-old Neesha Athukorala of 105/3 Dibbedda, Panadura is suffering from a heart disease (Astrial Septal Defect) and Dr. L. Dalpadado, Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Suwasevana Cardiac Hospital (Pvt. Ltd.), has advised her to undergo early surgery, for which the estimated cost is Rs. 225,000.

Her father Asoka Athukorala has appealed for public assistance since he is unable to afford the required amount. Donations or contributions may be sent to Savings Account No. 1-018981-2, Bank of Ceylon, Panadura Bazaar.

Help sought for knee surgery

Mrs. D.D.A. Ubayaseeli of 201/8C, Gorakagaha Road, Borella is suffering from knee trouble and is unable to walk. The Colombo National Hospital has advised her to undergo surgery for which she needs Rs. 150,000. Since she has no income at all, she has appealed for contributions from the general public. Contributions may be sent to Sampath Bank A/C. No. 1004-5059-2093.
