Solemn thoughts Escapism by Wendell W. Solomons Today, TV makes children aliens in their own home. Since both parents work these days and grandmothers are not always available, TV takes over as nanny. With TV nanny kids are subject to conditioning from an early age to 'escape' to Cloud Cuckoo land. TV escapism hardly stops with children. It functions in top gear when a working person is tired after office and is more open - slouched in an easy chair - to behavioural suggestion carried through by TV bread and circus fare. I know from personal evidence of the case of a businessman whose sales suddenly trebled. In an attempt to escape from the daily concerns that workers bring to him when he sat at his desk in office, this businessman took to staying at home with wide-screen multi-channel TV and his living room filled with the thud of doors being broken down and bullets whining. The businessman, an athlete when young, had been doing regular workouts in a gym. He dropped gym in favour of reclining for multi-channel TV. However, after two years of this changed, sedentary lifestyle the businessman succumbed to a heart attack. It was this former athlete's first attack but surgeons could not resuscitate his cardio-vascular system. Escapism via Scapegoating From the mid-1960's, bonding with TV brought up the yuppie, the young, upwardly mobile professional. It helps you to know whether co-operation at home or office is being hampered by a yuppie. From the mid-1970's bonding with Western TV caused a behaviour shift into still more dangerous waters. Western TV audiences were shifted into nihilism concocted by Alice Rosenbaum (she took the name Ayn Rand after a stint in the 1920s in Hollywood, where movies were shot because of the sunlight and the close Mexican border should the escape of hot money from the U.S. government become necessary.) Alice Rosenbaum's nihilism is a belief system to imply that nothing matters except my swollen head. 'We' as a community in amity are trampled underfoot by her. Because my mouth is close to my ear, her dogma traps me into believing that I hear the voice of God. This vanity trap walls off one human being from another. In the USA where the community traditions of the pilgrim ship 'Mayflower' are in suspense, in 2004 the A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition has in effect been pointing out that finance capital becomes the supreme ruler. The voter turnout reduces year after year because the electoral process has become little more than a choice of which of two Caesars will serve the American republic's financial architects. On a one-dollar bill you might catch sight of the signature of Robert E. Rubin. A 23-year partner of giant Goldman-Sachs financiers, Rubin was given the Cabinet portfolio of finance. Rubin is one of many US Finance Secretaries who controlled the major shareholding bought in the name of the American people, of the World Bank and the IMF. The social engineering conducted by these two institutions leads to dangerous forms of escapism. A useful study in this regard is Selvam Canagaratna's 'Unethical Conversion to World Bank's false Gods - Globalisation et al.' Implementing the policies of these false Gods impoverishes nations for loan sharks such as Goldman-Sachs. If their role in creating the weather is not understood, blame may be shifted to a minority close at hand. In the late 1990s, began the first church burnings in Sri Lanka. The country is still to recover from a previous act of escapism, the 1983 burnings of the homes of its Tamil citizens. In 2004 a church-breaking gang was finally caught by the police and Sri Lanka awaits news of the gangs' financiers. If you wonder whether they might be in high places, a report in the UK Guardian of Sep. 25, 2004, records that the financial architects who turned German Christians towards escapism that targeted Jews as scapegoats included the Bush family. Two surviving concentration camp slave labourers have filed a plaint in Court. It helps to know what social winds are creating the weather. That helps from being blown into serious trouble. |
