Jaguar Golf Classic Oct. 10 A return air ticket to London on Business Class, prizes for the youngest and oldest winners and runners-up plus special prizes for Jaguar owners are on offer at the inaugural Jaguar Golf Classic to be staged on the Ridgeways on October 10 sponsored by Regency Automobiles (Pvt) Limited, a subsidiary of the IWS Holdings Group of Companies. The Captain of the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), Kumar Boralessa, said that he was very happy that Jaguar too has joined the band of other vehicle companies that are sponsoring events at the RCGC and they anticipate about 200 players to vie for honours in this stableford competition. Borelessa further said that there are II prizes for the taking in three categories (handicap 0 to 12, 13 to 20 and 21 to 24), while the air-ticket to London is to be awarded for the hole-in-one at the 9th. He thanked Jaguar for coming forward as a sponsor and planning this event meticulously after the six to eight months of discussions. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Regency Automobiles, Chaminda Perera, said that this was a historic event for his firm who were successful in breaking into golf after several attempts. He said that Jaguar had been one of the main sponsors of the APGA Tour "sometime back" and are very keen to support local sports. He said that next year (2005), the winners will be flown to Gleneagles in Scotland for the Jaguar gold finals and that the Jaguar gold classic is held in about 52 countries in the world. L. G. |
