Sri Lanka joint 9th with Hong Kong by LAL GUNESEKERA Sri Lanka, represented by Nandasena Perera and Anura Rohana, were joint ninth with Hong Kong at the end of the third-round of the Golf World Cup qualifier at the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club in Senai, Malaysia yesterday. Sri Lanka had an aggregate of 211 (68,75,68) and tied with Hong Kong represented by Derek Fung and James Stewart (71,73,67). Myanmar with 201 (Kyi Hla and See Kyaw Naing) 66,69,66 maintained the led by just one stroke over Chinese Taipei 202 (65,71,66) represented by Wang Ter-Chang and Lu Wei-Chih), while South Korea were third on 204 (67,74,63) represented by Kim Dae-Sub and Shin Young-Jin. Four strokes behind the South Koreans and tying for the fourth place were Malaysia (Danny Chia and R. Nachimuthu 63,77,68) and Thailand (Beenchu Ruangkit and Thaworn Wiratchant 67,72,69). Tied for sixth place with 209 were Switzerland (Marc Chatelain and Ronnie Zimmermann 67,75,67) and Pakistan (Ahmed and Muhammed Shabbir 66,74,69), followed by India on 210 (Rahul Gangjee and Amandeep Johl 67,74,69). Then came Hong Kong tied on ninth place with Sri Lanka, followed by Finland, Philippines, Singapore and China, Guam, Mauritius, Fiji and Holland. The fourth and final round takes place today (Sunday) with the top three qualifying for the Golf World Cup in Spain in November. |
