Gunners Supercross today on new track

by VIMUKTHI FERNANDO

Minneriya Artillery Regiment opens their motor racing track with "Gunners' Supercross" today. Motor racing on this track will contribute to the welfare of the families who were disabled or died during the 20 year conflict, said the officer in-charge, Lieutenant Colonel N.D. Wanniarachchi.

The track, running between the Artillery Training School and two artillery regiments, promises many interesting features to the amateur as well as the veteran motorist. Two corners with one solid bend, two hill tops and a detour through the jungle are some of the highlights. It is about 1.2 kilometres in length. The observation points are placed strategically and provided with enough facilities to enjoy the events. Many renown motorists and motorcyclists will participate in today's "Gunners' Super Cross."
