ANCL Chairman receives doctorate The Open International University for Complementary Medicine has awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy to ANCL Chairman Janadasa Peiris, recognising his contribution to journalism. The degrees of this University are recognised by the United States Accredition Authority. Janadasa Peiris, a MSc degree holder in Mass Communications, entered into journalism in 1963. He became Director General and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation in 1994, where he served for more than 20 years in various capacities at the News Division including Director (News). He was the Editor of Jagath, a magazine on international affairs. He also served concurrently as the Secretary to the Media Ministry before he took over the post of Director General of the Information Division at the Presidential Secretariat. Janadasa Peiris has travelled widely and contributed articles to print media. He is also the author of several books. Peiris received his award from Dr. Ravi Ponniah from India, the Medicina Alternativa nominee for Nobel Prize last week. Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara was the special guest at the occasion. |
