Fully-fledged holiday home for retired public servants A fully-fledged holiday home for the benefit of retired public servants in the country will be ceremonially opened by the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs at Wedamulla, Kelaniya on December 23, at 9.00 a.m. at which Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda will be the chief guest. This is the first ever holiday home, constructed by the Government at a cost of Rs. 80 million for 398,000 retired public servants. Minister Dodangoda said that this holiday home was a long felt need and it would immensely benefit needy pensioners as well as their family members who frequently visit Colombo for various official and private purposes. The two-storeyed holiday home consists of 18 single rooms, three large houses with one bedroom each and another three houses with two bedrooms each. A senior Ministry official said that a reasonable fee of Rs. 100 would be charged per day for a room in the two storeyed building, and Rs. 200 and Rs. 300 respectively per day for other bedrooms in the two large houses.
