SLT back in some areas

Sri Lanka Telecom have restoredits services in some areas after last weeks tidal wave which damaged the services in most areas along the coastal belt.

Since the 28th December 2004, SLT technical staff have restored its services in the Habaraduwa, Weligama, Kinniya areas and partially restored services in Embilipitiya. SLT services are still not available in Hambantota, Hungama,Tangalle, Angunakolapalessa, Tissamaharama, Suriyawewa, Ambalantota, Kataragama, Middeniya, Weeraketiya and Beliatta areas. SLT services are still partially affected in Wanela, Weerawila, Mawarela, Gomarankadawala, Beruwala and Payagala areas.

However SLT has restored essential services to the Police, the GA's offices and the hospitals in affected areas to assist the national disaster recovery efforts.
