Batawala, an artist since 1960 learnt his first lessons in art at the Government College of fine Arts. Having worked at the Small Industries after graduation Edwin pursued his ambition to be a full time artist. Now, a renowned artist in the field, his life revolves around exhibitions, meetings, festivals and seminars on art.
"Dilhan Fernando, director at Dilmah gave me the idea to go to these estates to get a taste of their life styles. It was a new experience. I actually saw a side of life that I hadn't seen before.
'Tea in the First Sense' the photography and Art exhibition of Ceylon Tea, organised by Dilmah Tea was launched on March 8th at the hotel Trans Asia. The Czech father and son team, Zdenek Thoma and Michal Thoma have worked extensively in Asia including the tea growing regions of China and India as well as Japanese gardens. The exhibition, yet another innovative endeavour by Dilmah, to promote the world's finest tea, around the globe, will end shortly., |
