Delegation to strengthen trade links with China The Sri Lanka-China Business Council, which functions under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, is organising a delegation to the Canton Fair 2005, scheduled from April 15-30. The Chinese Export Commodities Fair, which is well known as Canton Fair has established itself as a world-renowned fair displaying a wide range of products of over 12,000 stallholders. Realising the vast potential available at this Fair, the Council felt that it would be advantageous for the members to visit the fair. Mahesh Wijewardane, Commercial Director of Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd will lead this trade promotion mission. He will be accompanied by W. M. K. C. Fernando, Managing Director, Ms. P Fernando, Director, B. D. F. Gregory, Manager and M. N. Samman, Manager of Lanka Ice Co.(Pvt) Ltd., N. B. Ekanayake, Managing Director, A. P. Dissanayake, Consultant and D. R. A. Bandara of Midland Riora Traders and T. Mendis, Assistant Commercial Manager, Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd. They will visit the first phase of the fair scheduled from April 15-20. The profiles of the mission members have already been forwarded to the organisers of the Fair for the purpose of matchmaking. The Canton Fair organisers have given their assurance to assist this group during their visit. This is the first occasion the council is organising a mission to the Canton Fair and they are quite positive that the mission will be a great success. A council spokesperson said that the delegation was organised with the objective of assisting members to strengthen and enhance their business links with China. Hemantha Galgamuwa, Assistant Director Marketing of the Industrial Services Bureau, will handle the travel arrangements for the mission. |
