Ceylinco in modern Montessori international chain Ceylinco Consolidated launched the group's latest company-Ceylinco Modern Montessori Ltd, a joint venture with Modern Montessori International in the UK. The collaboration between the two companies will introduce early childhood education of an international standard to Sri Lanka. The letters of agreement were exchanged by Chairman Ceylinco Consolidated Dr. Lalith Kotelawala and the Chairman/CEO of Modern Montessori International group T. Chandroo. Based in London, the Modern Montessori International chain covers countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and China and shares the montessori method of teaching children, with adults of different heritages, cultures and beliefs. It offers specially designed montessori programs for children that focus on the individual child's developmental stage, in an environment that encourages natural curiosity. Dr. Kotelawala said that this was yet another milestone in the history of the Ceylinco Group as it ventured into a hitherto unexplored area-early childhood education. Deputy Chairman of the Ceylinco Education Group Jagath Alwis, under whose purview this company will function, said that the launch of Ceylinco Modern Montessori Ltd completes Ceylinco's presence in the Sri Lanka's education sphere. "We have been actively engaged in primary to post-graduate education for quite a while. This launch completes the cycle." Chandroo said he was proud to welcome Sri Lanka to a growing number of countries in which the company has branches. "Our aim is to offer affordable and quality education on par with international standards", he said. The proposed 50 Montessori Centres to be set up in all parts of Sri Lanka, will also have a day-care centre each, as a special facility to working parents. There will, in addition, be a training centre for the training of Sri Lankan teachers in the specific teaching methods of Modern Montessori International. "Trainers from Singapore and the UK will initially train a Sri Lankan team, which will in turn, train successive batches of local teachers", Alwis said. |
