One-hundred Sampath Bank branches by year end by L. S. A. Wedaarachchi Plans are under way to increase the number of branches of 'Sampath Bank' from 72 to 100, before the end of the year. This plan will be launched to facilitate customers whose convenience is uppermost in the mind of Sampath Bank. Sampath Bank which introduced IT Technology to customers first in Sri Lanka in the banking sphere introducing the ATM-SET network in 1987, seventeen years ago, joined hands with the Bank of Ceylon ATM network recently. At present SET card holders are able to enjoy SET facilities at Sampath and BOC - ATM centres numbering 200 all over the island. In most areas of IT and technology within the banking sector, Sampath Bank has introduced cutting edge technology to Sri Lanka even at times when such technology was only used by developed countries, said AGM, marketing and business development, Sampath Bank Kapila Karunaratna. Explaining how Sampath Bank integrated IT into the daily lives of people, he said that Sampath Bank is number one in IT in any Sri Lankan bank and continues to strive to maintain that leadership role and to be customer focused in product and process development by applying the latest development. Today's customer profile in most parts of the country can be construed as a busy businessman working in multiple business ventures who also depends heavily on communication facilities. It is the profile that we have addressed through the mobile and internet platforms, he said. |
