Is IP Jeyaratnam in LTTE custody? by Ranga Jayasuriya The LTTE has not yet responded to an ICRC inquiry as to whether the abducted police Inspector, T. Jeyaratnam was in the custody of the Tigers. International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) last week wrote to the LTTE seeking its assistance to locate Inspector Jeyaratnam, who is missing since last week after dinner at the Mt. Lavinia Hotel. An Ex-PLOTE member called Mano, who is alleged to have turned an LTTE operative along with another are accused of abducting Inspector Jeyaratnam. "We wrote to the LTTE asking whether the Inspector is in their custody. We have not received a response yet," ICRC spokesman Sukumar Rockwood told the Sunday Observer. Early this week, the Inspector's wife, Mrs Sarala Jeyaratnam requested ICRC help to rescue her husband from the abductors. |
