Dejan looks for sponsors by Srian Obeyesekere International racing hopeful Dejan de Zoysa, who became the first Sri Lankan to drive in the 2005 Formula BMW Asia Series; for the Minardi Team Asia, is looking for local sponsors to sustain him on the international circuit. 19-year-old Dejan who is due to race for the Minardi Team this year in seven countries including Australia, Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia and Thailand, said, "I'm badly in need of a sponsor to keep me going," said De Zoysa. He was Caltex Open Prokart champion as a 12-year-old schoolboy at S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia, at 16 Dejan emerged a Formula Ford winner at Pannala and International Class Go-Kart Champion. Dejan also had the distinction of representing the country in rowing at the 2004 SAF Games, winning two silver medals in Islamabad. He represented S. Thomas' at Under 15 Cricket, junior and senior rowing and he was awarded the 'Thomian Blue' - the highest sporting award at the school in 2003. |
