JASTECA organised the Taiki Akimoto 5S Awards and Nagaaki Yamamoto Kaizen awards ceremony for the ninth consecutive year at the Colombo Plaza yesterday at which awards were presented to organisations that have excelled in implementing 5S to an international level.

The Chief Guest at the ceremony was Sunil G. Wijesinha, Chairman, Dankotuwa Porcelain Ltd., and MD/CEO, Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Ltd., Forty-seven institutions in the manufacturing, plantation, apparel, trade and service sectors participated. The first round of evaluation was by a panel of local experts, while the final evaluation was led by Hiroshi Iwayama, a Japanese expert whose services were obtained through the Asian Productivity Organisation.
