Seafarers' Chaplain extends stay by Rohan Mathes The stay of Rev. Philip Auden, the Chaplain at the Missions to Seafarers in Bristol UK, had been extended by a period of two months, in the Colombo office by the Seafarers' Headquarters in London, in order to help the management committee in Colombo to re-organise and revamp its office, the Colombo Mission sources said. The sources told the Sunday Observer that within this period, a visit was made by its Ministry Secretary Cannon Tom Heffer who spent a short period in Colombo, on his way to the Indian subcontinent. The Mission in Colombo is now equipped with internet, modern telephone communication facilities, well-equipped sundry and souvenir shop and a bar. The available TV facilities, DVD player and the Karaoke will certainly provide the "home away from home" environment for the visiting seafarers of all nationalities and faiths. The Bishop of Colombo, Revd. Duleep de Chikera and Archdeacon Rev. Christhantha Mendis had also been briefed of the missions' activities, by the visiting Rev. Fathers. |
