Bata targets upmarket in main towns

by L.S.A. Wedaarachchi

A new Bata showroom, a model of South East Asian Bata showrooms was opened recently on the second floor of premier Pacific pinnacle city store at Duplication Road, Bambalapitiya. The concept of this new showroom is novel and it aims at a customer friendly environment according to the Managing Director of Bata Shoe Company Kym Bradley.

A few more similar showrooms will be opened targeting the up- market in the main towns in the new future.

In order to save the valuable time of customers they are able to select their needs at a glance at the new showroom, due to the manner in which the footwear is displayed. Even without entering the showroom customers could see the designs through the glass windows of the showroom.

Explaining the present situation of the Bata Shoe Company the M.D. said at present good labour relations prevail in the company and the workforce works very hard to improve production levels.

The quality of the brand is vital in a market such as Sri Lanka where some duplicated items appear very often, he said.

Therefore the Bata company gives the highest priority to improve the quality of their product, he said.

With justifiable pride, he said that 'Bata' has earned an unblemished name in quality in the world.

Bata is an international company and it has operated in Sri Lanka for the last fifty four years.

Most of the Bata shoes available in Sri Lanka are made at the Bata factory and its affiliated shoe making factories numbering thirty are highly supervised by the Bata company.

Imported Bata shoes and slippers made in South East Asian factories are also available in the network of Bata showrooms islandwide.
