Singapore SME chief here on fact-finding mission Lawrence Leow MP, President of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Singapore accompanied by Allen Pathmarajah, President Singapore-Sri Lanka Business Council are in Sri Lanka on a fact-finding mission. The visit follows the meeting of Minister of Advanced Technology and National Enterprise Development Rohitha Bogollagama and Leow during his recent visit to Singapore and had discussions on improving co-operation in the SME sector between the two countries. During the visit Leow met senior officials of the Ministry of Advanced Technology and National Enterprise Development led by Secretary to the Ministry Lal Kumara Gamage including officials of the SME Bank and the National Council for Economic Development, Presidents of FCCISL, NCCSL, SLCSI, CNCI and the NCE. Leow also met the Chairman of BOI and participated in a presentation made on incentives available for investors in Sri Lanka. Leow called on the Minister of Advanced Technology and National Enterprise Development Rohitha Bogollagama at his office on Monday. Leow said that this was his first visit to Sri Lanka and he was very impressed with the business environment here. He said that the Government and officials are very flexible in terms of the needs of investors. Being a businessman himself Leow said that he was keen to invest here in prawn farming, IT and Real estate development. He said a larger delegation will visit Sri Lanka in two months time and added that he would provide the information to his membership in Singapore before planning the next visit. |
