by Mahes Perera

Iraj and Il Noize belong to the hip hop world and its musical culture, states the leader Iraj. They are no rock fans, nor do they sing or play rock. "We are into mass music of commercial value" continues Iraj who is working towards concerts this month in Kandy, Negombo and two shows in Colombo.

Iraj along with Ranidu performed at the Sydney Opera House at a concert which was organised specially as a tsunami fund raiser. The group with their original and creative music has been doing well for themselves int he hip-hop scene at home.

They were featured at the Kit Party held at Navam Mawatha, at the Shakthi Radio Super Star Final where the contestants performed music which was South Indian influenced. "The standard was good" comments Iraj. In April Ahankara Nagara the single, he composed with Ranidu was released internationally, caught the UK Asian Chart scene, and become a No 1 hit on all the radio stations at home.

Il Noize comprise Iraj, Krishan, Infaas and BK

Mixing his talents into a solo debut album is Krishan who tells us that the CD will be released end of June. "I'm calling it Asian Avenue and the tracks are being produced by Ranga Dassanayake, Iraj Weeraratne, Yohan Rajapakse, Rukshan Charles and Nisal with Ranga heading the whole production.

The songs are tri-lingual - English, Sinhala and Tamil - the lyrics are by me, Vasantha Dugannarala, aka Rala, Tanuja, Ram Victor and Amalan. Most of the songs are in hip-hop rhythm and slow r & b.

As for the lyrics they deal with war and it's aftermath, drugs, the urban life and loves of youth.

Sony M Entertainment will be handling the launch and marketing of the CD which is on the Sony BMG label" informs Krishan.

What's for the future ? "I want to be international. I want to enter the South Indian scene since I am a Tamil rapper. To promote my music I will be recording three videos from the songs on Asian Avenue for airplay". Good luck Krishan !
