Call for justice

by M. P. Muttiah

The international meeting against terrorism, for "Truth and Justice", in which more than 300 Cuban and foreign delegates participated, ended in Cuba condemning US terrorism. Several Latin American countries demanded the Bush administration to extradite terrorist Luis Posada Carriles to Venezuela.

Posada, 77 year-old former CIA operative, who was trained by the US Army at Fort Benning in Georgia, has been trying to violently overthrow the people's regime for more than forty years. Posada was one of the CIA agents who attempted to fulfil US dreams against Cuba. It is clear from the speech of President George W. Bush on June 10,2004; ``If we can hurt the Cuban people just a little bit more, it will somehow help topple Fidel Castro's government."

The FBI and CIA recently released their top secret memos on Posada's involvement in terrorist acts. He was hiding in Central America and Caribbean with the assistance of the CIA and had slipped into Miami in early May with the bogus American passport.

Homeland Security picked up Posada, but the State Department official Roger claimed the Bush administration did not know for sure if Posada was in the US. However, Posada's lawyer requested asylum for him.

The US government is faced with three options: Granting him asylum, jailing him for illegal entry into Miami, or granting Venezuela's extradition request.

Even if Veneuzela goes to UN Security Council, there awaits the US sword of "veto". Will justice triumph in the Free World?
