TNA, PLOTE, UNP Tamil MP welcome India stand by our correspondent The Tamil National Alliance has welcomed the Joint Statement of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sri Lankan President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga after her three-day visit to India. Vanni District TNA Parliamentarian Selvam Addaikkalanathan said that the Joint Statement reflected the sentiments of the people of North and East. Tamils had always been willing to find a solution within the united Sri Lanka. The solution must be acceptable to all including the Tamils. Therefore, the statement, reflected the credibility of India on the peaceful solution of the ethnic conflict. Addaikkalanathan also welcomed the understanding and support of India in the establishment of Post-Tsunami Operational Management Structure (P-TOMS). PLOTE leader D. Sitharthan said that he welcomed the statement as it reflected the Indian position on pluralism. The support of India to the P-TOMS was a welcome one and would be helpful to find a solution not only for rehabilitation and reconstruction but also contribute to enhance mutual understanding between the government and the LTTE. UNP Parliamentarian P. Radhakrishnan welcomed the Joint Statement and said that it reflected the interests of both countries to find a solution to the ethnic problem. He urged India to fully support the peace initiatives and said that New Delhi could play a vital role in finding a lasting solution to the ethnic problem. He welcomed the efforts of President Kumaratunge in the establishment of P-TOMs. |
