Milo peps up schools rugby by Ranjan Anandappa 'Milo' will once again sponsor the Junior under 14, 16 and 18 and the President's Trophy under 20 school rugger tournaments as they pledged their continued support to school rugger. The junior under 16 twelve-a-side division 2 tournament started yesterday and will be continued today at Kurunegala and the under 16 division one twelve-a-side tournament will be held in Colombo on June 18 and 19. This was revealed by Bandula Egodage, the Promotions Manager of Nestle's Lanka Limited at a press briefing held at the Capri Club on Thursday. He said that 'Milo' has been sponsoring school rugger for the past twelve years and had no objections if any other firm or individual come forward to sponsor for the betterment of the game. He further said that at the initial stage of a tournament it is difficult to find sponsors, but once it gains popularity finding sponsors are not that difficult. Ranjith Chandrasekera the President of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby association and the Principal of Kingswood College, Kandy who 'chaired' the meeting said that the Association cannot forget 'Milo' for their energetic service rendered to school rugby as the authorities appreciate it very much. He further said that the schools rugby season had to be postponed due to the tsunami disaster. The season begins with the under 20 tournament starting on July 20 and the President's Trophy beginning on October 2005. The President of the SLSRFA also stressed of forming a separate Development Squad for the Schools in preparation for any tournaments. Mohammed Shafaz (Brand Manager, Nestle Lanka Ltd.
