Constable shot dead LTTE gunmen shot dead a police constable attached to Kalkudah police yesterday. This is the second killing, two days after the Tigers gunned down three soldiers in Batticaloa in the worst attack against the Security Forces during the Ceasefire. Constable Chaminda Roshan (39240) was 350 meters away from the Kalkudah police station when he was shot. "He was shot twice and died on the spot," said an army officer. Constable Rohshan (29) is from Elpitiya.Police said it had commenced a search operation, but no suspects had yet been arrested. Meanwhile, Police in a search operation arrested two youth in connection with the shooting at Urani Junction where Sergent Sarath Kularatne and Lance Corpal Saman Kumara, intelligence officers and Trooper Chaminda Kumara of the 223 Brigade Headquarters, Batticaloa were killed.(RJ) |
