Three Lankan athletes for World Youth Athletic C'ships

Uditha Gayan Wickremasinghe of St. Anthony's College, Katugastota, K. T. M. Harris of St. Joseph's College, Trincomalee and M. Lahiru Madhushani Pieris of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo have been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the 4th IAAF World Youth Athletic Championship to be held in Marrakech, Morocco from 13th to 17th July, 2005.

Uditha who clocked 49.9 secs at the selection meet held in connection with the World Athletic Day on the 7th of May, 2005 will compete in the 400 metre race at the World Junior Championship. Harris who finished the 400 metres in 50.9 secs. and came 2nd to Uditha and came first in 100 metres clocking 11.1 secs will compete in 100, 200 and 400 metre at the same meet.

Lahiru who equalled the Sri Lanka High Jump record with a leap of 1.75 metres at the trials will participate in the High Jump event for girls.
