Kavin upset top seed

Bottom seed Kavin Jayawardena upset top seed Kavinda Cooray at the men's Open final in straight sets while top seed Nirasha Guruge retained her title when she defeatad Vidushi Gurunada also in straight sets as the duo took the plums at the Tamil Union Open Squash Championships played at the Tamil Union sports complex yesterday.

Kavin overcame Kavinda 9-4, 10-8 while Nirasha downed Vidushi 9-3, 9-0, 10-8 at the finals played for the Janashakthi trophy. Chandra Schaffter, Chairman, Janashakthi Group, the sponsors of the tournament, was the chief guest and gave away the awards.
