IBM, Kingslake introduce Information Management trends IBM together with their Software Distributor Kingslake introduced strategic "Information Management" trends and techniques to the local ICT fraternity at the Information Leadership Summit at the Taj Samudra. IBM recognises that most companies' different data stores reside in various computer systems, on distributed platforms, in different locations and are of multiple data types. For example most businesses have information in relational databases, e-mail, spreadsheets, text files, flat files, XML, digital images and audio, voicemail and a myriad of other data repositories. The result is an extremely complex IT environment. IBM recognises that the 'data deluge' customers face goes beyond the internet and HTML documents and include email, photos, videos, HR records and payroll data, instant messages, word documents and more - all stored in different formats, in IT systems from many different vendors. This is the problem IBM is solving for customers. The IBM vision for Information Management includes a commitment to open
standards. Such as Java and Linux; multi-platform support for a wide variety
of UNIX versions, including IBM, HP, Sun and others; strategic alliances
with leading developers, such as Siebel, SAP, PeopleSoft and other
Enterprise class software; on demand business enhancement; excellence in
client satisfaction, technology and service and thereby extended value for
clients. |
