ANCL assists Dikwella

Dikwella in the electoral division of Devinuwara was a calm and quiet village in the Southern Province until the tsunami disaster which befell the country on December 26 left nothing for the villagers to think about a morrow.

Everything they saw a few minutes earlier had been destroyed and seen floating in the raging waters.

The people who did not have an idea of what to do and where to go gathered at the Godauda Vidyalaya Premises nearby.

The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (Lake House) which understood the gravity of the disaster wanted to assist those who were affected and they stepped in at Dikwella.

Dikwella Tsunami camp is the best managed tsunami camp in the country as Lake House has thought of all the inmates in the camp, children, women, aged people, youth providing them with all their needs.

The Society for Promotion of Japanese Diplomacy (SPJD) with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan was at Dikwella camp with a water purification machine, a vehicle, fishing boats, 70 bicycles for students and other assistance.
