Expats back Mahinda

A large number of Sri Lankan expatriates have extended their whole hearted support to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse as the common candidate of all anti-UNP forces in the forthcoming Presidential Election, Temple Trees sources told the Sunday Observer.

Over 10,000 letters congratulating Mr. Rajapakse on his nomination as Presidential Candidate have been received at Temple Trees.

Most of them have been sent by expatriates in the Middle-East, Korea, Western Europe, USA, Canada and Australia. Already many of them have set up organisations to ensure Mr. Rajapakse's victory.

These organisations have pledged to provide any assistance that is required for his election campaign. These pledges have been made irrespective of political differences. Among these groups is the 150,000 member-Sinhala Cultural Organisation of Kuwait. A majority of its members have decided to come to Sri Lanka to cast their votes in the Presidential Election.
