The UNP manifesto presented last week by opposition leader Ranil
Wickremesinghe for the forthcoming Presidential election targets a growth
rate of 10% an year after assuming office. Given the political and economic
background of the country the ever optimistic private sector chambers also
describe it as a dream and a too optimistic target.
