The ultimate single: numeral Nine  (Part Two)

by Rohan Jayawardana

SYMBOLISM IN THE LAST DIGIT: there is a symbolism in Nine to the extent that it represents the limit of the Human Brain's capacity to imagine in the abstract in terms of the single digits (there is a return to One and Zero thereafter). "Numbers" is indicative of the human capacity to imagine with reasonable accuracy in the invisible: for instance before the advent of Numbers there was no need to even seriously "think", except in the most obvious of terms such as in survival matters as shelter, food and drink.

These were in visible matters (rather than in the abstract) and easy to tackle.

The matters of Numbers and of counting had to be literally invented out of thin air by employment of the intellect; but at the digit NINE it was never possible to imagine in singles any further! It is for all time an item of evidence of the mind's limitation in its capacity for analysis. Intellectuality probes into matters indepth, searching out fundamental facts and the causative factors. There is also the matter of puzzling origins, always.

Additionally, within the physical state (called the Three Dimensional or 3-D state) in Nature there must also be an equivalent evidence outside of the limitation in the analytical factor.

Symbolism in digit Five

This need not necessarily identify exactly with the limited Human spatial capacity because the 3-D state is harmonised "Nature at work". Nevertheless the factor of Decay is the physical solid evidence of the limitation Rules that apply on the "outside" of the Human Mind. (Refer here to the matter of numeral Five discussed on 28.8.05 and 04.9.05).

On an earlier occasion it has been argued that: (A) - a "pair" (or two) gives better balance than one; (B) - a pair of Fives that gives Ten ALSO equals with the final single digit Nine (the first position being at Zero); (C) - Five is seen as evidence of a limiting and enjoining element in Language and on the human person (in toes, fingers, the senses). It is thereby also SYMBOLIC; but at Ten (5x2) it comes up at Nine the last individual digit; while Ten is the position after starting "at rest" at Zero. Therefore there is Fundamental Balance too at the final single Digit.

Thereby NINE is irresistibly worthy of evaluation. The symbolism in it, as representative of the extreme fringe, is provocative! Symbols in first writings: The utter validity in looking for symbols is proven by their presence in the Sumerian Cuneiform and the Egyptian Hieroglyphic which used the principle of "pictograms".

They were constituted of symbols and images for the purpose of conveying from one Mind to any other (or "another") the contents of thoughts, ideas, inspirations, historical facts and so forth. They had to be studied for "a language" in the standard use of specific symbols etc. in patterns against the series of images, so that a complete "Communication" was thereby available in today's terms. The alphabets etc, came much later.

Symbols are therefore the best work of human imagination. They enhance and illustrate communication in language. Where syntax, interpretation and translations lead into obscuring the accuracy of the original thought - content, the factor of illustrative symbols (and of images) points toward accuracy and the Truth. This is vital when the passage of time destroys the idiom of expression in due course, even obscuring the Truth itself.

The accuracy of the first writing: The Sumerian Cuneiform at UR, a city-state of the first recorded civilization named SUMER was comprehensively identified by the British archaeologist Sir Leonard Woolley (1880-1960) who discovered in it the evidence written in stone of the Great Flood of the Bible story at approx. 5000 B.C. along with about eight feet of silt deposits! (Sumer predates the glories of Babylon at the overall site of modern Iraq: and was also the birthplace of Patriarch Abraham the acknowledged "father" of Arab and Jewish peoples: Gen: c.15V.7)

The physical evidence verifies the writing in symbols etc on stone. It is the historical proof of validity and the quality of the technique of communication. It has been seen in Part One of this essay that the irresistible evidence of Nine lies in the Human Mind's subconscious in several well-known idiomatic expressions.

This is out of the imagination; the creative Human capacity. It is the same with the pictograms of the Cuneiform with the imaginative employment of symbols; the writers on stone had to use maximum imagination to convey with accuracy the intended ideas etc. This is brain-work at its extreme capacity! It is never "simple".

Therefore the symbolism in the digit nine seems to be an unavoidable "presence" within the fabric of existence at the fringe of capacity.
